With a h.igh reputation at home and abroad, it is known as manmade river in heaven and. today’s Great Wall红旗渠构筑坐落于豫、晋、冀三省交界处距安阳市林州县北部61千米近。红渠是1960年林县人民在太行山悬崖峭壁上盘山修筑的。长达70千米，渠高4.3米，长8米，谓之水量18.3立方米／秒，是新中国林州人民勤俭与智慧的结晶，它不仅是一笔极大的物质财富，而且是一笔极大的精神财富。

在此工程中，林州人民反映出有的自力更生，艰苦创业，团结一致协作，无私奉献的优良传统美德和感人精神，受到世人的赞扬而广为传颂。20世纪70年代周恩来总理曾自豪的告诉他国际友人，“新中国有两大奇迹，一个是南京长江大桥，一个是林县（现名林州）红旗渠”。
